Hello, my name is Bonnie and Gene W.Gene and I decided we had to lose all this weight we each gained. At this time in our life, we needed to change our eating habits and knew this could be our last chance for a healthy life. We were obese with no energy, and we were always tired. Unable to walk very far, we would sit at home and do nothing. The extra weight stopped us from traveling and doing many other things. It was time for us to do something about ourselves. On July 21, 2011, we started the program at PWMC. We are at our half-way mark and each have lost 50+ lbs. We have gained a more healthy life, with more energy. Thanks to the program, and encouragement from Marcia Cox and her group, we will reach our final goal. The classes and group support help out a lot because you see others losing, and it gives you encouragement to go on. Let’s not forget Dr. Hade, who is our personal cheerleader. It hasn’t been easy, but each time we get discouraged, we look in the mirror and see these new people we have become.
Hello, my name is Chris.I had just been given the most wonderful gift. For the last 2 years I had been a Mom-Volunteer in a Christian School in the first and second graders class room. The administration asked me to be the teacher for the next term. Graduation ceremonies were planned and I needed to be on the stage, in front of all the kids and parents to receive my commission as the next classroom teacher. First of all I had a hard time deciding what to wear….actually it wasn’t so much a decision as it was finding something that I could wear. You see, I weighed 310 pounds. I’m 5’3”. So you see my dilemma. I wanted to look nice but didn’t have much confidence that I looked like next year’s teacher. So, the kids are all up on the stage and I’m introduced. I walk across the stage with papers in my hand and in my shaky state of affairs, they flutter to the floor. I bend over to pick them up and that’s when I had my revelation!! I couldn’t bend all the way over to pick up the papers. After several very uncomfortable moments I did get them gathered up but that moment was when I knew I needed to do something about my weight. All my life I’ve struggled with weight. My family tends to be on the heavy side. I’ve been on every diet known to man. I’ve lost and I’ve gained and lost and gained. You get the picture. I’ve said before that I’ve lost several “people” over my life time, but they always seem to find their way back and have always brought their friends that added to my poundage Not only was I way over weight, but I also was on 22 different medications for diabetes, liver function, kidney trouble and I don’t know what else. It took me longer in the morning to take my pills than it did to fix my hair and makeup. What a mess I was. My mom called her friend, Marcia Cox, at Physicians Weight Management Centers. I called Marcia the next day and made an appointment for the next Monday. The timing was right and I started the program the first part of July 2011. The meetings that the center offers are very helpful and are offered at several difference times to accommodate everyone. We meet once a week to discuss lots of different topics that are important to weight loss and to weight in. Some of the topics are exercise, nutrition, morale boosting, goal setting, and tips and tricks to keep on track. The presenters are professionals in their particular area and have good information to share. I started out with four of the meal replacement shakes a day. There are several options for flavor and consistency. My favorite and the one that I have stuck with is the Vanilla Pudding. It can be mixed thin or thick so it gives you a little variety. Since being on the program I’ve lost 91 pounds over 5 ½ months and I’m now down to 5 pills a day, down from 22. Only one of those pills is for my diabetes.. Marcia told me at the beginning that this program is like “the surgery” but without the cutting. She was right!!! I’ve never felt better and I know I’ll be able to reach my goal of 135 pounds weight loss. Thank you to everyone at Physicians Weight Management Centers for all the support and encouragement. This is just an example of the success you can have with our program. As a medically supervised weight loss program you can be sure that your health is important to us. We work closely with your medical provider to assure long term success. During the Reducing phase of our program you’ll see our doctor once a month. Weigh-ins and educational meetings are once a week.
Hello, my name is Tina. After receiving a referral from my physician,I first came to Physician’s Weight Management in July of 2010 looking for guidance to help in my struggle to lose weight. I was morbidly obese due to several years of steroid use to help control my Lupus. I received so much more. Not only did I lose weight, I have confidence and my self esteem has risen much more than I expected. The motivation given to me by the consultants was (and is) a true blessing. I have to admit it was a struggle to get going with exercise and to follow the diet plan. It's a life style change that does work. The changes within me are not only to my benefit, but to those in my life who mean the most to me, my family. Losing my weight was never an easy task; however I feel that one of the biggest reasons for my success was simply the people that I chose to help me. The program at Physician’s Weight Management is easy to follow and well supported by the staff, which makes a not so easy task just that much easier. The missing components of losing it in a healthy manner and keeping it off were, learning how to make good choice’s, which I learned how to do from the truly caring staff of Physician’s Weight Management, the accountability of checking in weekly to chart my progress, and the support provided by the staff as well as the other people who were on the same journey that I was. This has become a “weigh of life” for me. I’m not hungry; I do eat foods other than shakes and bars, and have learned what makes me gain weight, what helps me lose weight, and what helps me keep it off. I sincerely feel that I can follow this “weigh of life.” I couldn’t be happier with the way I feel or the way I look. When I started my journey I was a size 28 and now I am happy to say I am a size 14/16. I really like all the compliments that I get from everyone – especially my husband, who tells me how good I look all the time. I’ve had several friends and acquaintances walk past me because they did not recognize the new me. It’s a great feeling! My medical issues have all been resolved by eating right and losing the excess weight. I went from taking 5 blood pressure medications to none. My cholesterol is normal now and my breathing issues are almost non-existent. Walking is no longer laborious. I walk 3 to 4 miles per day without getting out of breath. My Lupus is back in remission and the stress on my joints is so much better without carrying around the extra pounds. I actually have a spring in my step. I can’t even begin to express my appreciation to the consultants and staff at Physician’s Weight Management, and the inner happiness and peace that I have because of everything we accomplished together. You will always hold a special place in my heart, and be a large part of my life, in the way I think, the choices I make, and the way I conduct myself overall. Thank you for teaching me how to live a healthier life, and guide me along my journey as I get closer to my goal weight. To keep off the weight long-term, I plan on staying on the program until I reach my goal and then using all the tools I have learned about weight loss and exercising to keep it off. Even though my weight loss journey is not over, I now have the confidence and the self esteem needed to succeed and I could not have done it without all of you and the love and support from my family and friends!
Hello, my name is Holly.I really started to realize that I had a weight problem in July of 2011, when I weighed myself at 224lbs. That’s the most I have ever weighed in my life. I didn’t even weigh that much when I was pregnant with any of my three children! I was always tired, and never had any energy, so I called my doctor about getting the lap band surgery. He referred me to a doctor in Flagstaff. The office in Flagstaff said I would have to go to a Bariatric Clinic for 6 months before even being considered for surgery. I checked and found that the only one in Lake Havasu was PWMC. I called PWMC and went in for a free consultation. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and pressure-free that I decided to join. The first step was an appointment to see the doctor, which was August 9th 2011. I had a positive attitude, even though I had been on every diet out there and had failed. At first I thought, “how am I going to survive on shakes, puddings and soup?” I thought I would be hungry. But by the end of that week, it was hard for me to eat all the food because I just wasn’t hungry. I said to myself, “I can do this!” When I started seeing the pounds melt away, I was so excited. It’s been a little over 4 months now, and I’m a whole new person. I’m down over 65lbs and 10 dress sizes. I have lots of energy, and I owe it to PWMC. Thank you PWMC, you guys are my heroes!
Hello, my name is Diana MI’m currently a patient of PWMC. As of May 1st, I have lost 50lbs. I’ve gained not only my confidence back, but tools for life in nutrition and weight management. I’ve always eaten healthy, and exercised daily, but have always struggled with my weight. PWMC helped me get back on track by helping me make healthier choices, and by making me accountable for these choices. PWMC’s program made it really easy to stay on track. The staff is like family, and they take the time to know your individual needs. I would recommend PWMC 100% to anyone who struggles with their weight and needs to get a fresh start! PWMC, thank you for enriching my life.
Hello, my name is BarbI started PWMC’s weight loss program on October 29, 2010. I will never forget that date; it was the beginning of my new life. I weighed 232lbs. My cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar were high, and I felt tired and miserable all the time. I tried dieting, which worked for a little while, but I couldn’t stay with it. I was desperate and thought about getting the lap band. My doctor said I should try PWMC. I am so thankful I did. Since I have been with PWMC, I have lost 74lbs and have kept it off! I have energy, and I feel great. The program really works if you stick to it. The meal replacements are delicious and satisfying, and the staff are supportive and knowledgeable. I don’t know if I could have done it without PWMC. I am now on maintenance, and I know I can keep the weight off with everything I have learned, and with the support of my new family at PWMC.
